Crowns, Bridges and Dentures (Prosthodontics).
Prosthodontics is the mono-specialty which is involved in the prosthetic rehabilitation of patients with missing teeth and their supporting structures. This may include rehabilitation involving simple fillings, crowns and bridges, partial and complete dentures and implant-retained protheses replacing both single and multiple missing teeth.
Being my first specialty, I have extensive experience in the prosthetic dental rehabilitation of patients who have compromised dentitions or multiple missing teeth. This includes patients suffering from severe toothwear, failing dentitions or compromised teeth due to congenital or acquired challenges such as trauma or cancer. Some recent cases can be found below.
Case 1.
This young gentleman attended having fractured his upper left central incisor, following a fall from his bicycle. The tooth was reconstructed employing a biomimetic approach and using multiple layers of subtly complimentary shades of white filling material. I use this approach to produce highly aesthetic and natural dental reconstructions.
Case 2.
This young lady originally attended hoping to improve the appearance of her narrow and diminutive teeth. She was seen with an orthodontic colleague who used braces to initially align her teeth and idealise the spacing between them. Following this, I used a biomimetic approach to enhance the appearance of the teeth by building them up in white filling materials, developing the teeth into shapes which harmonised with her other teeth and smile curtain.
Case 3.
This gentleman attended wanting to improve the appearance of his lower front teeth which had chipped and worn over the years. He had previously had small repairs of the chipped teeth provided which had fallen off after a short period time. I enhanced these teeth using aesthetic white filling materials, using an enhanced bonding technique to ensure that the fillings did not debond.
Case 4
This gentleman attended wanting to replace a number of missing upper and lower back teeth to improve his appearance and his ability to eat. Following comprehensive planning, initially a number of strategically located crowns were provided with features and contours to link into and hold well-designed dentures in place. Subsequently, a pair of well-fitting , aesthetic dentures were constructed which the patient was delighted with.
